In compliance with applicable New York and New Jersey State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) is mandatory for all MSK employees, contingent workers, and volunteers. Job Description
Senior Research Assistant - Analytical Chemistry will assist in performing research activities in collaboration with internal/external personnel to complete science based projects. You will independently craft, plan, and develop new methods and technologies for project advancement. You will maintain a high level of expertise through familiarity with scientific literature and implement a quality assurance plan, as well as participate in scientific conferences and contribute to scientific journals.

You are:
- An effective educator, capable of resolving how best to reach different audiences and carrying out communications based on that understanding.

- Adept at scheduling researchers for efficient use of instrumentation
- Eager to seek new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and passion.
You will:
- Conduct a wide variety of experimental tests for Investigators by developing new research methods or improving existing ones as needed.
- Intensively interact with and educate researchers from a diverse variety of fields and backgrounds, advise on the projects and help find solution to problems.
- Keep instruments functional by troubleshooting and repairing instrumental issues and contact OEM when issue requires further resolution.
- Ensure laboratory equipment, instruments, chemicals, solutions, stains, assays, and other supplies for research experiments are prepared for analysis.
- Be involved with chemical separation techniques (HPLC, UPLC, etc.), mass spectrometry (MS, MS/MS, IMS), optical spectroscopy, and other analytical techniques. Samples will be mostly chemicals, but may also involve metabolites, extracts from biological materials as well as prepared tissue samples.
- Respond to and produce reports as requested by the laboratory head and members of the research team.
- Schedule researchers and staff and ensure timeliness of work; may participate in performance appraisal process.
- Develop proficiency testing for researchers and supervise inventory.
- Use quality-control mechanisms and documentation to maintain instruments and their results at our high standards.
You have:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field with 5+ years of work experience in an Organic Chemistry or Analytical or Mass Spectrometry Laboratory Environment or Masters Degree in Chemistry with 3+ years of shown experience
