Phoenix Children’s Hospital is seeking an Assistant General Counsel with at least five (5) years of healthcare law experience in a law firms or in-house legal department working successfully with hospitals or health systems. This position is responsible for ensuring PCH is in compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations. This position is responsible for drafting and reviewing contracts, including, but not limited to, physician employment agreements, medical director agreements, real estate leases, equipment leases, research agreements and vendor and information technology contracts. Provides advice and guidance regarding compliance, medical staff issues, licensing, employment law, research, and business transactions. Familiarity with laws, rules and regulations applicable to healthcare entities. Provides legal advice to clinical leaders, hospital staff and committees on a wide range of patient issues, including interfaces with external regulatory agencies and patients/families.
Education
Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited College of Law, with a strong academic background. (Required)
Experience
At least five (5) years of healthcare law experience in a law firm or in-house legal department working successfully with hospitals and/or health systems. Experience should include healthcare contracting, research, regulatory matters and healthcare compliance. (Required)
In-depth experience in contract law, with broad background in drafting and negotiating agreements across multiple areas of business. (Required)
Five (5) or more years healthcare law experience with a law firm and/or in-house legal department for a hospital or hospital/health system representing client on health care regulatory and transactional matters. (Required)
Knowledge and experience in healthcare technology, clinical research helpful but not required. (Required)
Certifications
Current member of the Arizona State bar, either by admission or as Registered In-House Counsel or eligible for membership by admission or as Registered In-House Counsel and obtains such status within the first 6 months of employment. (Required)
