The role you’ll contribute:
The Corporate Director of Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) is responsible for developing and executing the strategic vision for Clinical Documentation Integrity across the organization. The AdventHealth Clinical Documentation Integrity program promotes clear, concise, complete, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation supporting the patient’s severity of illness and reflecting the quality of care provided by approximately 19,000 active medical staff providers at 50 hospitals in diverse markets across nine states who practice in AdventHealth’ s twelve-billion-dollar enterprise. The Director provides leadership, guidance, and support to 7+ Regional or Division CDI Directors and the corporate CDI team to collaboratively ensure implementation of the strategic vision for CDI. This support includes the leadership, development and management of the enterprise CDI software platform(s), oversight of the concurrent and retrospective review process, oversight of provider communication, provider and clinical documentation specialist education, oversight of the Quality and Safety Review Process and guidance for recommended CDI staffing. The Director works collaboratively with revenue cycle coding leadership to ensure that documentation completely and accurately informs AdventHealth’ s internal and publicly reported quality and safety measures and that there is appropriate reimbursement for severity of illness. In addition to accurate severity of illness, quality and safety measures the CDI program has an impact of approximately 180 million dollars in annual revenue for AdventHealth. The Director works closely with AdventHealth Compliance Officers to ensure strict compliance with all regulatory requirements. This position requires significant communication and interaction with both corporate and market leaders including clinical and finance executives as well as physician leadership to support the organizations strategic goals.

Lead the execution of the strategic vision for Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) across the organization, ensuring complete and accurate documentation that reflects severity of illness.
Lead development of strategies and standardized national best practice CDI processes and support implementation of them across the system
Lead education and training for deployment of system CDI operational software across AdventHealth. Work collaboratively with market leadership for successful deployment.
Ensure that AdventHealth maintains up to date and best practice IT systems for CDI.
Advise and support the standardization of CDI roles, responsibilities, and job descriptions as well as role accountabilities across the system.
Develop educational materials that are provided to markets to support development, education, and best practices of Clinical Documentation specialists.
Develop and monitor metrics and KPI’s that reflect best practice processes and outcomes.
Develop and implement system dashboards that provide system and market insight into CDI program and metrics
Lead, guide and monitor system and market performance on the CDI Concurrent and Retrospective review process. Work with market leaders to achieve system targets.
Lead, guide and monitor system and market performance of the Quality and Safety Review (QSR) Process.
Collaborate closely with Quality and Safety leadership to ensure that the QSR process reflects current system quality and safety efforts.
Ensure that there is an internal and external audit process for CDI and QSR activities
Review CDI and QSR audits with Corporate Compliance to ensure that all AdventHealth CDI and QSR activities are in compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations including compliance with documentation of required publicly reported measures.
Follow industry trends as well as regulatory changes that impact the CDI program.
Effectively represent the AdventHealth CDI program to internal and external stakeholders.
Coordinate the CDI Council and Steering Committee and provide leadership to and work collaboratively with each regional or Division CDI Director to ensure that the organization’s CDI vision and goals are accomplished.
Lead and manage the corporate Retrospective Review Team

Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelors or higher educational degree
Registered Nurse or equivalent clinical degree
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a clinical documentation specialist in the acute care setting
Minimum 10 years demonstrated leadership experience including at least 5 years clinical documentation leadership
Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist
Active state licensure in clinical degree
Preferred qualifications:
Masters Degree in business or health related field
Leadership Experience or demonstrated involvement in professional organizations such as Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists
Experience in acute care Clinical Coding
Certified Clinical Coder
