Olive View-UCLA Medical Center (OVMC) invites applications for the position of Chief for the Department of Pathology. We are looking for an experienced and visionary leader who will give strategic direction to achieve our clinical, educational, and academic mission. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a commitment to academic excellence, significant knowledge of both anatomic and clinical pathology, and a passion for advancing the field of pathology. This role involves overseeing clinical, operational, and academic activities within the department to ensure the highest standards of patient care, research, and education. Additional requirements include eligibility for California medical licensure, as well as the ability to successfully collaborate across disciplines and work effectively within a large and complex health delivery system.
Essential duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide strategic leadership and direction in the oversight of all clinical, operational, and administrative functions for the Pathology Department
Ensure the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services in anatomic and clinical pathology
Promote and support research initiatives and scholarly activities within the department
Mentor and develop faculty and fellows in pathology
Collaborate with other departments and healthcare providers to enhance patient care
Maintain compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards
Develop and manage departmental budget and resources effectively
Represent the department in various OVMC, Department of Health Services, and UCLA committees
Review, enforce, and comply with all departmental, facility and County policies
Required qualifications:
MD or DO degree with board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology
Eligibility for licensure in the state of California
Academic credentials suitable for an appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA
A strong track record of clinical service, teaching, and research
Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in managing a diverse team
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
