Department Overview
The Chaplaincy department provides support to families, spiritual assessment and working with families experiencing a crisis. In addition, the serve as an outreach to community clergy, facilitate in religious rituals in the hospital (I.e. baptism) and provide support to staff.
Position Summary
The On-Call Chaplain will provide spiritual care during after hours, weekends and holidays to children, families, and staff of Children's MN. The On-Call Chaplain will communicate information about on-call cases and coordinate follow-up care with Staff Chaplains. The On-Call Chaplain will also coordinate spiritual care with community faith leaders and home spiritual resources as appropriate.
Specialized Chaplains (ex. imams, shaman, American Indian spiritual leader, Buddhist etc.) will support the patient population they represent in addition to interfaith patient needs, as requested.
A graduate-level theological degree from a college, university or theological school accredited by a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or appropriate theological training recognized by one's faith tradition. Minimum of four units of clinical pastoral education (CPE) programs. Provide documentation of current endorsement and/or ordination of good standing in accordance with the requirements of one's own faith tradition. One year hospital experience preferably with children.
