The Medical Education Supervisor is accountable for the implementation of the administrative educational and accreditation activities to assure efficient and effective operations. This position oversees professional education programs by providing leadership, help and guidance to program administrators and serves as part of the Medical Education administrative team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Oversees the daily operations of the Medical Education team and department to ensure efficient operations. Serves as a liaison between leadership and team. Helps and guides department regarding priorities and recommended improvements. Runs team members by example and encourages growth.
Supervises and guides team to create and maintain a fair and helpful work environment that fosters respect and 1-on-1 development.
Interviews, hires and trains new staff members. Plans, assigns and directs work. Appraises performance, rewards and disciplines staff, addresses complaints, and resolves challenges and conflicts.
Participates in course planning on a regional level including identifying gaps, educational needs and expected results. Identifies and resolves conflicts of interests, ensures compliance with standards.
Builds and fosters relationships at all levels of the organization, and serves as liaison with affiliate programs, as applicable.
Develops, interprets and applies policies and procedures. Implements the requirements for education programs including policies, procedures and handbooks. Implements training program for new staff.
Assists with oversight of the educational and accreditation activities to ensure implementation of and compliance with departmental, institutional and external agency requirements.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Competent, professional and courteous communication skills.
Experience with accreditation (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, etc.) related tasks, such as surveys, site visits, annual program reviews, evaluation, case logs and milestones is preferred.
Supervisory and managerial leadership skills.
Project management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Must demonstrate a commitment to Medical Education and professional growth.
