Job Description
We are seeking a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) to analyze electronic medical records, and abstract clinical, pathological, therapeutic, and epidemiologic data in accordance with established oncology data collection practices/standards, American College of Surgeons/Commission on Cancer Standards, NY State Department of Health cancer reporting requirements, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) guidelines. We are looking for a resource who is specialized and passionate about oncology data abstraction. In this role, no cancer program management activities are involved.
You Will!
- Determine and resolve if a case qualifies for accessioning into the cancer registry database.
- Analyze medical records and assign correct codes utilizing the appropriate oncology standards, data collection rules, and practices.
- Enter all information into Metriq software.
You Have!
- CTR (Certified Tumor Registrar) Credential, Required.
- 5 years of proven experience in a COC-accredited hospital.
- Detailed knowledge of reportable malignant and non-malignant diseases, cancer staging and treatment, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and ICD-O-3 coding.
- Expertise in applying oncology data collection standards, and rules: SEER, AJCC, STORE
- Practical abstracting experience using the 2018+ oncology standards (at least 2 years).
- Proficiency using Metriq cancer registry software preferred.
- Optimally use an electronic medical record for data abstraction.
- Proficiency using MS Office software
