POSITION DETAILS
The Office of the Provost at The College of Staten Island, City University of New York (CUNY) is seeking a Research Integrity & Compliance Manager who will be responsible for the areas of:
Efficiently manage the submission and review process for submissions made to the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), while providing HRPP and IACUC-related administrative and regulatory support to the College's researchers and administrators working in conjunction with the College of Staten Island Institutional Biosafety Committee.
Investigate allegations of research misconduct, including plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and other unethical research practices, collaborate with researchers, staff, institutional leaders, funding agencies, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with research integrity regulations and ethical standards, maintain confidentiality throughout the investigation process and protect the identities of those involved in the investigation, work with researchers to develop and implement data management plans that ensure the integrity and security of research data, report, document, and take appropriate corrective actions on research integrity incidents and investigations, maintain records.
Comply with all U.S. export control regulations about the conduct of research and the dissemination of its products, maintain records, liaise with export control administrators at CUNY central to ensure compliance with all rules and procedures, promote a culture of integrity and compliance by providing training and resources to all involved researchers, staff, and students on Export Control, Human and Animal Research Protection Programs, and Research Integrity policies, regulations, and ethical standards, elevate ethical behavior and encourage reporting of any violations or concerns, provide guidance and resources to researchers, staff, and students on research integrity and compliance matters, liaise with research integrity and compliance administrators at CUNY central and regularly attend CUNY-wide trainings.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide guidance to researchers and IRB (Institutional Review Boards)/IACUC members with regard to applicable federal regulations, state laws, and College of Staten Island and CUNY policies, review submissions to the HRPP to evaluate whether these require CUNY HRPP or IRB review, review protocols that meet the regulatory criteria for exemption from IRB review and makes exemption determinations, as appropriate, perform pre-review of submissions requiring IRB review to ensure completeness and compliance with applicable federal regulations, state laws, and College of Staten Island and CUNY policies, participate in annual meetings of the national organizations involved in regulation of animal research (The Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare - OLAW, Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research - PRIMR, and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee - IACUC).
Serve as a communications liaison between the IRB and College of Staten Island researchers. In addition, serve as a liaison between researchers and the IACUC as well as the IACUC and Institutional Officer, lead efforts to conduct training and education for College of Staten Island researchers, Manage the day-to-day operations of the IACUC including receipt and review of the protocol, ensure that all investigators and key personnel completed the required CITI lab Animal Training, support the IACUC Chairperson and the IACUC members, ensure that all research and related activities involving laboratory animals presented to the IACUC Office are submitted for IACUC review, provide responses to questions and concerns regarding animal care and use.
Organize and facilitate semi-annual meetings and inspections, as well as other meetings and inspections throughout the year. Take minutes at all IACUC meetings.
Send inspection results to key personnel and follows-up on reports and travel to CUNY's Central Office and various CUNY campuses.
Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.
Preferred qualifications include:
JD or Master's degree preferred
Three (3) years of professional experience in application of human subject and/or animal protection regulations highly desired
Excellent communication (written and verbal), critical thinking, organizational, and time management skills
Ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a broad range of researchers and other diverse individuals in a professional manner
Ability to use diplomacy and tact, and work with confidential information
Certification as an IRB professional (CIP) is highly desirable

$90,375 - $104,057
