ROLE of the POSITION
The Department of Kinesiology & Nutrition Sciences at UNLV is searching for a full time, 9-month, tenure/tenure-track position in Nutrition at the rank of either Assistant or Associate Professor.?The candidate will be expected to pursue an active research agenda leading to external funding and publications in quality refereed journals.?The quality of the program of research is considered to be more important than any particularly area of research inquiry, although research in some area of health care as related to nutrition and food science is required.? Applicants at the Associate Professor level should have an active independent research program and a successful track record of extramural funding. Additional responsibilities include mentoring graduate students in the interdisciplinary doctoral programs and the mentoring of master's students.
The candidate will be expected to contribute to the instruction of graduate and undergraduate courses in nutrition and/or supporting areas. Candidates will have the opportunity to develop courses in their area of expertise to complement the current curriculum. The candidate must have demonstrated ability to teach and mentor graduate students in coursework and projects leading to culminating experience for graduation for students in nutrition. ?
Service to the professional through contributions at the national, state and local level is expected.?
This position requires an earned doctorate degree in Nutrition or Food Science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). At the Associate rank level, candidates must demonstrate a record of external funding. At the Assistant rank level, candidates must demonstrate strong potential to obtain external funding.
Post-doctoral training or independent research experience is preferred.
