Director, Website Operations

In this role, you will primarily manage the day-to-day operation of Duke Health's consumer facing website, dukehealth.org, while working with the internal web team, third-party vendors, and wider Duke University Health System stakeholders. A strong attention to detail is essential for success. Through your efforts to ensure the website is user-friendly, consistent, innovative and accurate, you will be helping people who rely on this information as they choose care providers, schedule appointments, research locations, and make other important care-related decisions while supporting the mission of Duke University Health System.
Please note: While this is not a technical position the ability to be communicate with both technical and non-technical colleagues and act as an effective intermediary for both is essential.
Roles and Responsibilities (included but not limited to):
- With Senior Director, perform strategic planning to define website roadmap for dukehealth.org
- Manages the day-to-day operation of dukehealth.org
- Analyzes needs and technical requirements to create acceptance criteria for website tickets/projects, collaborating with UX designer and internal technical resources as needed
- Maintain the web development schedule and backlog; prioritize based on business needs, user value, and requests from multiple internal clients
- Perform website updates through the Drupal CMS
- Above responsibilities: 50%
- Acts as the internal UAT lead for sign-off on all website development tickets
- Create documentation for team processes and CMS guides
- Take the lead in managing the planning of new Duke Health websites that may come on stream
- Above responsibilities: 10%
- Management responsibility for two direct reports
- Above responsibility: 15%
- Identify opportunities and devise internal solutions for more efficient use of resources and budget
- Main contact for Duke Epic team in relation to online scheduling feature and other patient-focused initiatives on dukehealth.org
- React to unforeseen emerging and urgent internal and external system-wide website needs
- Utilize problem solving skills and creative thinking when there are data limitations or technical obstacles in completing work
- Manage activities and relationship with third-party web development vendor
- Manage negotiation and contracting with vendors

Successful candidates will have:
- Experience of team management
- Experience of working as part of a team responsible for a major website
- Experience with content management systems – Drupal preferred
- Experience of working within and coordinating project management platforms – Jira preferred
- Experience of working within Agile project management methodology
- The ability to strike an effective balance between working independently and collaborating with team and leadership
- The ability to independently research topics and develop data-backed recommendations
- Proficiency in Excel (experience with databases a plus)
- Knowledge of ADA website accessibility compliance is a plus
- Knowledge of working with multiple integrated data sources is a plus
- Experience in contracting and negotiation
- Experience in the healthcare industry preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field is required.
Experience In the management of a consumer-focused, complex website utilizing an enterprise-level CMS. Key experience includes working with multiple stakeholders, all levels of organizational leadership, and internal and external development partners in the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of a business-crucial website. Experience with Drupal and knowledge of Epic products preferred but not essential. Healthcare industry experience preferred but not essential. While this is not a technical position, demonstrated experience of communicating between technical and non-technical colleagues is essential.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education
Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, marketing, communications or a related field is required.
Experience
Five years of directly related experience is required.
Experienced in the development, execution and measurement of multi- dimensional strategic marketing initiatives. Key experience includes working with all levels of organizational leadership in the adoption of plans and tactics, and making plan course corrections as needed based on emerging information or market evolution. Experience with emerging marketing tools (i.e. social media and customer relationship marketing) strongly preferred.
